An evening aperitif at a local sulumeria in the heart of this Baroque town or just a gentle stroll – a ‘passeggiata’ as the Italians call it – with a gelati in brioche in one hand and your camera in the other, capturing Ragusa Ibla’s majestic evening landscapes.

A day visit to the island of Ortigia, Siracusa’s ancient city by the sea, where we will explore more culinary pleasures and the colourful street market.
We return to the convent, where you are free for the rest of the day to continue exploring Ragusa Ibla and its charm.
DAY 7: Santa Cristina Gela & Palermo

Depart Palermo for the magical Baglio di Pianetto, a winery situated on the
hills above Palermo in Santa Cristina Gela. Together we will enjoy a delightful
wine and cheese tasting lunch.
Back to Palermo for relaxation or an optional tour, led by my husband Michael, through Palazzo Abatellis, home to magnificent works of Italian art. We will be joined by Maria Mattina, one of Sicily’s most inspiring food journalists, sommeliers and editor in Chief of ‘Viaggi, Arte e Cucina’, a journal of Italian art, food and travel experiences.

Morning return transfers to Palermo airport and saying ciao to Sicily!
DAY 2: MODICA, NOTO & rAGUSA

An evening back in Ragusa Ibla for relaxation and dinner at one of Sicily’s up and coming MasterChefs, Giorgio Ruggeri’s restaurant called, ‘Mama Trattoria’. It’s charming, authentic and has

Depart Palermo while admiring the scenic
western coastline of Sicily, bound for the cliff perched Hotel Torre Bennistra in Scopello.
Enjoy the cobblestoned paths that lead to an ancient tuna fishing site right on the foreshore where stunning rocks protrude from the Tyrrhenian Sea. Relax, you deserve it!
An evening visit to the picturesque hilltop town of Calatafimi, my parent’s birthplace and where Giuseppe Garibaldi unified the north and south of Italy in 1861. Wander through the village and share a relaxing piazza supper of local food delicacies with my relatives.
DAY 3: RASGUSA & FERLA

Morning cooking class and lunch at the culinary school within the hotel with Giorgio and then some time for relaxation.
